Description of the Domaine Méo-Camuzet
The 2005 Bourgogne (from parcels in Nuits-St.-Georges, Vosne-Romanee, and Marsannay) sports a lovely black cherry, iodine and cherry pitnose, comes onto the palate generously juicy with under tones of game and fresh blood, and finishes with real grip, if a touch of extraneous woodiness.
Aux Boudots is a Nuits-Saint-Georges premier cru on the commune’s northern edge, just south of Vosne-Romanée’s Malconsorts: it is the most "Vosne-like" of the Nuits premiers crus. Facing east-southeast at 250 to 285 metres, it lies on clay and fragmented limestone. The estate farms about 1 ha here, planted in the mid-1950s and the 1960s. The grapes are destemmed, cold-soaked for a few days, then fermented with native yeasts. The wine ages for 15 to 18 months in barrels, 30 to 60% of them new, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The nose, more complex and brighter than the estate’s Aux Murgers, combines plum, spice, smoke and forest floor. The medium- to full-bodied palate is fleshy, complete and lively, with slightly chalky tannins and a saline touch. The finish is long. A balanced Boudots in the fresh, classic 2021 vintage, best given a few years.
